While gin originated in the 17th-century Netherlands, where it was born under the name “genever” (derived from juniper), this exquisite drink has since become a British symbol\u2014but today gin is also being reinvented in Luxembourg.<\/span><\/p>\n Its basic production process is well known. It involves flavouring a high-quality neutral alcohol\u2014obtained through the fermentation and distillation of grains (barley, wheat, rye, corn or molasses)\u2014with juniper berries. <\/span><\/p>\n Each gin\u2019s personal touch then comes from the addition of aromatic plants (botanicals). To create a unique recipe, the distiller can use different ingredients: coriander, citrus peels (lemon, orange), angelica roots, cinnamon, liquorice or, for example, as in Kaempff-Kohler\u2019s new gin, bergamot.
