No, this isn’t about mountaineering, but rather the famous seasonal dessert!
The Mont Blanc consists of a cake similar to génoise (or meringue) with a filling of whipped cream, topped with a chestnut cream that’s been passed through a sieve to form vermicelli strands, all dusted with powdered sugar.
This autumn or winter treat is undoubtedly a classic of the snow-capped mountains, but it has (thankfully) also made its way to the lowlands.
In Alsace, it’s called “torche aux marrons,” and in Switzerland, it’s referred to as “vermicelles.” It is said to have been created in Paris in the 19th century.
The Mont Blanc will be available from Saturday, September 21st in our stores in the City Center, in Niederanven, and at BREAKK in Kirchberg.
