Saint Patrick’s Day 2024: Fáilte go dti Kaempff-Kohler! (Welcome to Kaempff-Kohler)

Mar 13, 2024

To celebrate the Irish national holiday on March 17, Kaempff-Kohler has everything you need to mark the occasion:

We are offering a generous selection of cheeses in the Gaelic spirit. These cheeses all have one thing in common: they are aged in whisky or beer, giving them a truly distinctive flavor.

Cashel Blue, an Irish blue cow’s milk cheese, comes to us from County Tipperary. When young, this cylindrical cheese, aged for 8 to 14 weeks, has a moist yet firm rind. It releases aromas of tarragon and white wine, becoming increasingly bold as it matures.

Our range is enhanced by two cheddars, iconic English hard cow’s milk cheeses. Originating from Cheddar, a village in Somerset in South-West England just a few miles from Bristol, the flavor profile of these cheeses develops with age, ranging from very mild to very sharp. For the occasion, we are offering two cheddars: one aged in whisky and the other in Guinness, in true St. Patrick’s Day spirit.

As its name suggests, Trhoublon à la bière comes directly from hop country, specifically Eeke, France, just a few miles from Dunkirk near the Belgian border. This hard cow’s milk cheese is aged with a dark beer that gives it a unique flavor.

In the same vein, we offer Herve aged in Belgian abbey beer. The abbey beer infuses this soft, washed-rind cheese with delicate hop aromas and flavors. Herve has a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status. It originates from the Herve region, in the Entre-Vesdre-et-Meuse area of the province of Liège.

Finally, our range would not be complete without camembert. This delight from Normandy is aged in beer, making it all the more interesting.

So, calling all cheese lovers—be sure to visit our City Center cheese shop this week to enjoy them!

St. Patrick’s Day is also coming to our restaurants…

On March 15 and 16, Kaempff-Kohler will be serving Stobhach Gaelach in its restaurants—the authentic Irish Stew, a signature dish of Irish gastronomy.

This lamb-based stew with potatoes, onions, and carrots perfectly reflects the core range of classic Irish food products. It is, of course, prepared with beer—preferably Guinness—which in Ireland also accompanies this delicious Gaelic hotpot as a table drink.

Book your table HERE now to enjoy our Irish Stew in our City Center and Niederanven restaurants on March 15 and 16, for €15.80.
