Quetschentäertchen – as easy as Bonjour!
(The mirabelle plum tartlet – as easy as pie)
The season for mirabelle plums has arrived. When the small violet fruit with hints of red and blue begins to ripen in the national orchard, the pastry chefs at Kaempff-Kohler bring out their centuries-old typically Luxembourgish recipe to make the “Quetschentaart”, the mirabelle plum tart.
It’s simple and delicious: a base made only of flour, butter and sugar, topped with halved plums (pitted) arranged in overlapping circles. It’s baked in the oven and served fresh.
The mirabelle plum tartlet is perfect as a seasonal dessert, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of rich whipped cream, or as a little treat to take away and enjoy at any time of day.
