Spotlight on 5 excellent Luxembourg coffees!

Jul 29, 2025

While Luxembourg is frankly not known for coffee plantations, it is nonetheless true that here, some know how to do it when it comes to coffee.

This month, we invite you to discover Luxembourg coffees for sale in our gourmet grocery store in Niederanven.

The “Roude Léiw Bounekaffi” are coffees carefully selected for their aromatic palette and roasted in the Grand Duchy by a local master roaster, in an artisanal way and according to traditional methods.

The Roude Léiw, Duusse Goût – original (mild taste), is produced from beans from the Sidama region in Ethiopia. It is a high-altitude arabica coffee, 100% Bourbon, which grows in the shade of native trees and shrubs, such as acacia, albizia, or sesbania.

L’Espresso is a balanced blend – still 100% Arabica – from the Selva Alta, in northern Peru. Since 2003, the producers’ association has been working to replace old production processes with new sustainable techniques, in harmony with the forest. Once again, we find chocolate notes, resulting from traditional roasting.

Then, there is the Lëtz Coffee range, coffees roasted in small quantities and packaged in Luxembourg by Olivier, a long-time “bean” enthusiast.

The beans at the base of Lëtz Coffee are selected for their exceptional quality. The Blend Espresso premium quality (250 g) is a blend of arabicas from Indonesia and Honduras, with a robusta from India. A well-rounded blend, earthy, with a slight hint of acidity and a beautiful crema.

The Terroir El Plato is grown at altitude, between 1,300 and 1,800 meters, in the dense, humid forests of the Selva Alta, in northern Peru.

It is a high-quality coffee that blends three varieties of arabicas (Caturra, Typica, Catimor). The cup is balanced, slightly acidic, with milk chocolate notes on the finish.

El Plato is the result of the work of a producers’ association, JUMARP. This association was founded in 2003 by 35 small farmers in order to develop sustainable coffee production, in harmony with the forest, and to handle the export of the coffee themselves. Today, the 211 members all produce certified organic and fair trade coffees.

The Barista is the new addition to the range: It is an organic Blend aimed at all those who swear by strong coffee. The blend of 4 origins and the darker roast result in a full-bodied coffee, perfect for an Italian-style espresso, deep, with chocolate notes; it pairs very well with milk, for example for cappuccino, to be enjoyed in complete tranquility.
