A Look Back at Mont d’Or, the Quintessential Cheese of the Season
We’ve told you at length about this typical seasonal cheese, Mont d’Or, available only during autumn and winter.
For you, our cheese experts have selected the “Primus Inter Pares”, the best the market has to offer:
The Mont d’Or from Fromagerie Napiot is a cheese appreciated for its exceptional quality and its generous, melting, and subtly woody flavor.
This seasonal cheese has won the award for best Mont d’Or at the Concours Général Agricole several times, notably in 2022, 2023, and 2024, thanks to its aromatic richness and beautiful appearance.
Fromagerie Napiot, which began its cheese-making activities in 1975, is located in Val d’Usiers, in Franche-Comté, in the Doubs department.
The fromagerie and its owners remain deeply attached to their local roots and to the customs and traditions of the Haut-Doubs mountains, in the Jura massif.
It is in this remarkable setting of pastures and coniferous forests that a professional activity recognized as one of the noblest in France is practiced and passed down from one generation to the next: that of the cheese maker.
Generally speaking, Mont d’Or is considered a symbol of conviviality and can be enjoyed in various ways: cold, hot from the oven, or on toast.
Now available at Fromagerie Kaempff-Kohler.
