A small country, great wines
The treasures of the Kaempff-Kohler wine cellar
42 kilometres of vineyards, exceptional terroirs and a unique wine-growing identity.
Along the Moselle, from Schengen to Wasserbillig, Luxembourg’s vineyards form a modest yet particularly rich landscape. Spanning some Spanning 1,235 hectares, this wine-growing region produces elegant, refined white wines as well as high-quality Crémants, which are now recognised far beyond the country’s borders.
Benefiting from a particularly favourable microclimate and limestone and marl soils, the Luxembourg Moselle offers winegrowers a terroir that is ideal for bringing out the best in great grape varieties.
Luxembourg, a land of great grape varieties
For over a century, Kaempff-Kohler has championed a particular vision of Luxembourgish gastronomy, based on excellence, the passing on of culinary traditions and the showcasing of the finest produce. It is only natural, therefore, that our establishment is committed to promoting the ‘Moselle Luxembourgeoise’ Protected Designation of Origin and the winegrowers who are shaping its history every day.
In our wine cellar, Luxembourg wine is showcased in all its richness.
Riesling, elegant, fresh and mineral, subtly expresses the full character of the Moselle terroirs. The Pinot Gris, full-bodied and generous, is paired with Pinot Blanc, elegant and fruity. The from Auxerre, Luxembourg’s iconic grape variety, which charms with its harmony and roundness. Alongside these, the Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay offer more aromatic profiles, whilst Pinot Noir – the leading red grape variety grown in Luxembourg – reveals another facet of this vineyard.
Winegrowers with character
In putting together our selection, we work with leading winegrowers, whose talent and knowledge of the terroirs help to raise the profile of the Luxembourg Moselle.
Among them, Clos des Rochers, Alice Hartmann, Claude Bentz, Henri Ruppert, Château Pauqué and Maison Pundel epitomise this generation of estates that combine tradition, precision and a commitment to excellence.
Our wine cellar also offers a selection of wines under the Maison Kaempff-Kohler label, including Riesling, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer vintages.
And amongst the wonderful discoveries not to be missed is Fossiles du Château Pauqué: an original cuvée created from a subtle blend of Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois and Chardonnay, which captivates with its balance and character.
Rosé is also taking on a Luxembourgish flavour
Luxembourg also has a knack for surprising people with its rosé wines.
To discover this more summery expression of the Moselle vineyards, why not give La Plume a try?, from Maison Henri Ruppert in Schengen. An elegant and refreshing rosé, perfect for enjoying on sunny days and during moments of conviviality.
Crémant de Luxembourg: effervescence at its finest
And when we talk about the Moselle region in Luxembourg, it’s impossible not to mention its Crémant.
Produced using traditional methods, Crémant de Luxembourg has established itself as one of the national wine region’s leading labels. Its fine bubbles, lovely freshness and remarkable precision make it a must-have on dining tables across Luxembourg… and far beyond.
In our wine cellar, wine lovers will be able to discover, amongst others, Clos des Rochers, Petite Fleur des Roches, Alice Hartmann Brut Nature, Alice Hartmann Rosé, Rezbergh Brut, Claude Bentz, as well as our in-house selection.
Wines that are just as suitable for an elegant aperitif as they are for a gourmet meal.
And Luxembourg is also seeing red…
Whilst white wines and Crémants are the Moselle’s hallmarks, the reds also deserve our full attention.
Our selection features, in particular, two Pinot Noir wines: Ma Tâche, by Henri Ruppert, and Prototype, from Clos des Rochers.
And for those who love to discover new things, Château Pauqué offers a particularly original cuvée: ‘Jungle’, a truly exceptional red wine made from two grape varieties that are unusual for the Luxembourg Moselle region – Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
